A head start to healthy habits? |
|
|
It's maybe only a tiny twinkle in the distance but New Year's resolutions are coming up quicker than you know. New Year can be a tricky time to stick to new habits. Estimates suggest that as high as 23% of people quit in the first week and 80% of people break their resolutions by February.
Maybe the little lull in November between pumpkins and sparkle might just be the time to make a small change that could last. A lot of people postpone tweaks to diet, exercise or sleep at this time of year because they think they will undermine their efforts at Christmas.

According to research it takes 66 days to form a habit, so you'd be established in it for the new year if you made a small change today. It can be something small like committing to drinking more water or a larger habit like walking more of your daily steps in one go or taking up running. The benefits of running for the "more mature" are highlighted in this article - remember, slow and steady wins the race. |

Student Fee Change
We are letting you know about an upcoming change to our student treatment price.
We have held our student fee steady for the past few years despite inflationary pressures, however, we have made the difficult decision to increase our treatment price for students to £38 from 1st January. - You can still take advantage of the current fee by booking in your follow up before the change comes into effect.
We understand that any price increase can be challenging, and we have done our best to keep these adjustments to a minimum.
We want to thank you for your continued loyalty and trust in our clinic, and we are committed to providing you with the highest standard of care.

Disability History Month
Disability History Month (DHM) is observed in the UK to highlight the struggles and achievements of disabled individuals in their quest for equality and inclusion. It serves as a platform to reflect on the progress made in disability rights and to promote actions that support disability equality in contemporary society. to share a bit about what it can be like to live with a disability.
Not many of my patients know this, but I was born with a visual impairment called nystagmus. It’s considered an invisible disability, meaning you likely wouldn’t know I have it unless I told you. Invisible disabilities can present unique challenges. On one hand, they can make it easier to avoid immediate judgments but on the other hand asking for help can be harder when others don’t understand why it's needed.
|
|
|
Something that is also important to highlight is that any disability comes with a spectrum and certain disabilities can vary in their impact on the patient’s life on the day. For example, my disability it is very constant - I can see the same amount every day, but blindness can be a spectrum too. The same goes for other disabilities where some might require a wheelchair on certain days and on others they can walk relatively freely without any aid.
My reason for sharing this is that at our clinic, we strive to create an inclusive, understanding space for everyone regardless of physical or mental ability. If you have specific needs or accommodations that would help you feel more comfortable during treatment, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We’re here to support you.
Over the years, I’ve learned that while I’m capable of navigating life independently, it’s absolutely okay to ask for help - and I encourage others to do the same!
- Isabelle.

Need a new podcast?
Don't worry, it's not us... yet(!) If you want to know more about chiropractic, how it works and why we do what we do there's an excellent podcast called the Evidence Based Chiropractor. (click for link) It's designed for chiropractors to listen to on the way to work so the episodes are short and easy to "digest". There's some technical language, but he often puts all the information into patient friendly language too! |
